SPIN Contribution to COVID-19

Dear SPIN Scientific Community,

Given the interest in the emerging and evolving COVID-19 pandemic and the questions regarding how this will impact patients with psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, alopecia aerata and other chronic inflammatory skin diseases, who are either treated with systemic immunomodulating medication or not, secured online de-identified registries have now been created for atopic dermatitis,psoriasis and alopecia areata.

We encourage clinicians worldwide to report on ALL cases of COVID-19 infection in psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and alopecia aerata, regardless of how they are treated, and regardless of severity of COVID-19 infection in the following three online registries: PsoProtect via https://psoprotect.org, SECURE-AD via https://covidderm.org and SECURE-Alopecia via http://securealopecia.covidderm.org/.

Reporting a case takes approximately 5 minutes. The online case report form collects only de-identified data and is closely aligned with that of similar efforts in inflammatory bowel disease and rheumatology to enable valuable cross-disease analyses.
Please report only confirmed COVID-19 cases in the AD registry and in the AA registry, suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases in the PSO registry, and report after sufficient time has passed to observe the disease course through resolution of acute illness and/or death.
With the collaboration of the international psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and alopecia areata communities, we will be able to define the impact of COVID-19 on patients with these chronic inflammatory diseases.

SPIN fully supports these initiatives, and encourages all clinicians to report on cases. Collaboration is key!
